From the Executive Director
I am especially pleased to send greetings to the School and community and to all those who have been a part of Navajo Preparatory School’s history to mark its 20th Anniversary. I am humbled to have played a role, along with the Board members and Tribal Leaders, in the school’s creation in 1991. It is particularly gratifying to see our School in the forefront of education for Native American students twenty years later.
During the establishment of Navajo Prep School, the Navajo Nation shared a profound commitment to provide quality and choice in education to produce
These words are as true today as they were twenty years ago. Navajo Prep School sends 95%-100% of its graduates to colleges and universities across the Nation in any given year. We have achieved Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for nine consecutive years since the No Child Left Behind Act was signed into law in 2002.
Navajo Prep School has come a long way and accomplished a great deal in its 20 year history. We have completed a $40 million new construction and historic renovation project on an 83.24 acre campus. While we have worked to preserve the old Methodist School buildings, our 21st Century Student Center is designed for sustainability to meet the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
With your support and hard work, Navajo Prep School continues to move forward into the next century, leading the effort to provide quality education. Navajo Prep School is a living testimony that Native American students can achieve and excel at and above the national level. Thank you for helping us add another chapter to our proud history.
Congratulations!
Betty Ojaye, Executive Director

Our Mission
The School is established to educate talented and motivated college-bound Navajo and other Native American youth who have the potential to succeed in higher education and become leaders in their respective communities. The School provides a rigorous academic program based on strong foundation of Navajo philosophy supported by a residential environment that enhances individuality and independence. This mission is reflected in the School’s motto, “Yideeskaagoo Nat’aanii – Leading into the Future.”

Rigorous Academic Program
Our Ultimate Goal is to Prepare all Native American High School Students for College. The mission is to educate talented and motivated college bound Navajo and Native American youth who have the potential to succeed in higher education and become leaders in their respective communities. The school provides a rigorous academic program based on a strong foundation of Navajo philosophy supported by a residential environment that enhances individuality and independence.
If you are looking for a school that can give you self-discipline, time management, confidence, motivation, independence, and ultimately, preparing for college and more success in life, then Navajo Preparatory School is the school for you in preparation for college and higher learning.
Our students also experience some of the freedoms of college. Students live in dorm rooms and learn independence — which serves them well when they go off to college — as 90% of our students do.
