Rising Stars: Girls Basketball Camp 2010

The two sessions of Rising Stars basketball camp were completely filled this summer. This camp was about developing leadership, discipline, teamwork, cooperation, and setting goals in life. The camp staff featured experienced former college athletes who inspired the girls to achieve their goals in education. Daily activities included physical conditioning, training and competitions. Evening activities included swimming, movie, bowling, and a pizza party.

Congratulations to the Eagles Girls Basketball Team, 2008-2009 State Champions!

We opened our football and softball fields during the 2009-2010 school year. Additionally, we are currently undergoing a renovation of the weight facility.

About our staff

Rainy Crisp, Head Volleyball Coach and
Head Girls’ Basketball Coach
Rainy Crisp is a 1998 alumna of Navajo Prep. During her high school career, Coach Crisp was a part of three State Girls’ Basketball Championship teams and was a four-time State Champion in the Long jump event in Track & Field. Coach Crisp continued her education at Arizona State University and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Education. During her years at ASU, Coach Crisp played for the Lady Sun Devils and was part of a PAC 10 Conference Champion team and made it as far as the Sweet 16 in the Women’s NCAA Tournament. Coach Crisp is entering her six year at Navajo Prep as Head Girls’ Basketball Coach and her fourth year as Head Volleyball Coach. Under her tenure the Lady Eagles are two-time State Runner-Ups in Volleyball and State Girls’ Basketball Champions.

John Gutierrez, Head Baseball Coach and
Head Football Coach

John Gutierrez taught and coached at Bloomfield High School for thirty-three years. During  that time he served as head basketball coach four years, head baseball coach for twenty-eight years and assistant football coach for thirty years. He has served as head baseball coach at Navajo Prep for eight years, and as assistant football coach for two years.  He also served as head football coach at Estancia high School in Estancia, New Mexico. Coach Gutierrez is a graduate of Dewey High School in Dewey, Oklahoma, and is a graduate of Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
