Academics

Gifted and Talented

The Gifted & Talented program is designed to articulate with the core academic curriculum as a "differentiated "curriculum - a course of study that provides more learning opportunities beyond the regular core curriculum.

The program delivery is based on more alternative methods of learning, such as independent research that provides for further studies within a given discipline, advanced placement in a college enviornment, internship, mentorship, interscholastic competitions such as drama and poetry, leadership training and development, student publications and performing arts. The students are self-directed learners and the teacher's role is of a facilitator. Many of our gifted and talented programs are implemented after school, before school hours, and sometimes on weekends.

Navajo Language Drama
This program provides students with an opportunity to further study the advanced Navajo language grammar, literacy, and speaking through presentations and plays. It also expands the students' usage of language in a more cultural setting. This program also involves teaching culture and writing stories and uses it in plays. The students create a script, write it, and translate them into Navajo. The students rehearse the play and are prepared for traveling to colleges and schools to perform the plays. Students are also encouraged to promote peers to use the Navajo Language (campus wide) through the plays and their participation in Navajo Language and Culture Bowl throughout the Navajo reservation.   Navajo Language Drama
