Navajo I
1 credit, 1 semester
Prerequisite: Freshman Level Course

The course is primarily designed to provide the basic foundations of the Navajo language. The course emphasizes oral communication by means of listening and responding. Reading and writing is also introduced throughout the semester.

     
   

Navajo II
1 credit, 1 semester
Prerequisite: Navajo I

This course is a continuation of Navajo I. The course provides the opportunity to further study the Navajo Language. Students will learn to express themselves in simple idiomatic speech and to read and write fluently at the elementary level. Emphasis is given to oral expression and comprehension through conversation, discussions of assigned reading, and short extemporaneous talks in Navajo. This course is intended to reinforce the use of the Navajo Language as a means to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities. Students will be exposed to increased amounts of literacy and grammar exercises.  

     
     

Spanish I
1 credit, 1 semester
Prerequisite: None

The course is primarily designed to provide a basal foundation of the Spanish language. This course will address all four of the components necessary to learn (listening, speaking, reading and writing). As a Spanish student, the student will learn to read and write the language in Spanish I, but listening and speaking will be the main emphasis in the course study.

     
     

Spanish II
1 credit, 1 semester
Prerequisite: Spanish I

The course is a complete curriculum and instruction program for high school Spanish students. The program contains all elements of the textbook plus photographs, videos, animations, and games to enhance and deepen students’ understanding of the Spanish language and culture. The program and instruction by the teacher will allow for interactive participation by students and interactive lessons will include web skills and concepts when they are introduced, reintroduced, or when the teacher remediates any part of the lesson. The course will be enhanced through photographs, videos, special guests, music and Spanish Holiday observation through classroom activities and attendance of events. Spanish II will be further enhanced through students participation, art, writings, speaking and listening to special guests.

Navajo III
1 credit, 1 semester
Prerequisite: Navajo II & Consent of Instructor

Navajo Language III is a continuation of Navajo Language II. This course provides the student an opportunity to study the advanced Navajo Language Grammar and Literacy. The student also explores functional applications of literacy as a technology that expands and empowers the Navajo language. The focus of evaluation is on student’s abilities to write fluently in Navajo, and accomplish multiple functions consistently globally.

     
     

Spanish III
1 credit, 1 semester
Prerequisite: Spanish II

Spanish III should be a continuance of the four components of language acquisition which are listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the target language of Spanish.  These components were established with each student in Spanish I and Spanish II suing the Rosetta Stone materials and technology   Spanish III should also be a class that focuses more on Hispanic culture and history such as bullfight as art, as well as art in general, music, dance, and theater.
